VC Star ArticleSeveral thousand people came out to Moorpark College on Saturday to sample beers from more than 35 breweries during the Moorpark Morning Rotary Club’s fourth annual beer-tasting festival.

Mayor Janice Parvin did the ceremonial tap of the keg to start the night’s festivities, which included plenty of beer and other spirits, as well as food to accompany the drinks, at the 21-and-older event.

Jim Raulin, the Morning Rotary Club’s president, said many early tickets were sold and almost 3,000 people were already at the event by early evening. The Moorpark Morning Rotary Foundation gave more than $25,000 in festival profits last year to 20 local schools and nonprofits.

This was the first year for the popular event to be held at Moorpark College to accommodate a larger crowd. It previously was held on High Street.

One of the longest lines at the event was at the booth for Enegren Brewing Co., touted as the first brewery in Moorpark.

Enegren’s orange wheat beer sold out in an hour. It is made using local oranges from Apricot Lane Farms in Moorpark.
